Types of Noses Rhinoplasty Surgery Can Provide

Rhinoplasty surgery gives you the type of nose you want

The shape of your nose is one of your most prominent features, and rhinoplasty surgery, or having a “nose job,” is one of the quickest ways to give you the nose you’ve always wanted. Many people seek a more popular nose shape because they feel their nose is too prominent, detracts from their other features, or doesn’t suit their face.

The shape of the nose has become such a noticeable characteristic that the different shapes of noses have been given descriptive names, such as:

  • A hawk nose has a prominent bridge and a curved shape.
  • A turned-up nose is popular as it’s small, with a dent in the middle and a prominent tip.
  • A fleshy nose is large and prominent, with more fatty areas.
  • A Greek nose is desirable, as it has a long, straight bridge without humps or curves.
  • A Roman nose has a prominent curve in the bridge, resembling the noses of ancient Roman statues.
  • A bumpy nose bridge is typical worldwide. They are one of the easiest nose shapes to change.
  • East Asian noses are slim and flat, with wider nostrils and a short tip.
  • A rounded nose is relatively rare. It has a curved and rounded tip, which detracts from the overall shape.
  • A Nubian nose has a broad base and a long bridge.
  • A snub nose is thin and pointed with a slight upward-tilting tip.

Rhinoplasty Gives You the Nose Type that Suits You

Rhinoplasty surgery reshapes your nose to suit your face and provides more pleasing and cohesive facial features. The surgery can fix all sorts of nose anomalies. It can remove a prominent bump in the bridge of the nose that draws the eye, or narrow a wide nose that seems too large for the face.

Two Types of Rhinoplasty Surgery

Nirunda Aesthetic Clinic performs two types of rhinoplasty surgery for Bangkok rhinoplasty candidates, depending on the procedure requested.

An open rhinoplasty exposes all the structural elements of the nose and makes it easier for the surgeon to work. The surgeon makes an incision between the nostrils, allowing them to fold up the skin on top of the nose and access the bone and cartilage. This surgery has a slightly more extended recovery period.

In closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are confined to the interior of the nostrils. With fewer incisions and less swelling, there’s less chance of infection.

Initial Rhinoplasty Consultation

The first step is to undergo a detailed consultation with our surgeon. After a thorough medical examination and review of your medical history, you’ll discuss your goals for the surgery, and the surgeon will explain the recommended procedures in detail to help you achieve your goals.

Steps to Take Before the Procedure

Our surgeon will also give instructions to follow in the days leading up to your surgery. You‘ll be asked to stop smoking and refrain from drinking alcohol. You may also be asked to stop taking certain medications.

Preparation for Surgery

On the day of surgery, you should refrain from wearing any makeup or facial cosmetics. Please arrange for a person to drive you to and from Nirunda Aesthetic Clinic, and possibly stay with you for a day or two afterwards. You may be given a light sedative, and, depending on the complexity of the procedure, your surgeon may choose local or general anesthesia to ensure your comfort.

Recovering from a Rhinoplasty Procedure

In the days following your surgery, you’ll likely encounter some bruising and swelling around your nose, cheeks, and eyes. This is normal and will usually subside within a week. Cosmetics can be used to hide the bruising.
The swelling can last for several weeks, and the tip of your nose may be slightly swollen for a few extra months after the rest of the nose has healed. However, the tip swelling is subtle and rarely noticeable by others.
