Two Types of Rhinoplasty Surgery

An open rhinoplasty exposes all the structural elements of the nose and makes it easier for the surgeon to work. The surgeon makes an incision between the nostrils, allowing them to fold up the skin on top of the nose and access the bone and cartilage. This surgery has a slightly more extended recovery period.

In closed rhinoplasty, all incisions are confined to the interior of the nostrils. With fewer incisions and less swelling, there’s less chance of infection.

Steps to Take Before the Procedure

Our surgeon will also give instructions to follow in the days leading up to your surgery. You‘ll be asked to stop smoking and refrain from drinking alcohol. You may also be asked to stop taking certain medications.

Preparation for Surgery

On the day of surgery, you should refrain from wearing any makeup or facial cosmetics. Please arrange for a person to drive you to and from Nirunda Aesthetic Clinic, and possibly stay with you for a day or two afterwards. You may be given a light sedative, and, depending on the complexity of the procedure, your surgeon may choose local or general anesthesia to ensure your comfort.

Recovering from a Rhinoplasty Procedure

In the days following your surgery, you’ll likely encounter some bruising and swelling around your nose, cheeks, and eyes. This is normal and will usually subside within a week. Cosmetics can be used to hide the bruising.
The swelling can last for several weeks, and the tip of your nose may be slightly swollen for a few extra months after the rest of the nose has healed. However, the tip swelling is subtle and rarely noticeable by others.
